A space for your voice
BREAKING THE SILENCE welcomes adults aged 18 and over, of all genders, from around the world. Share reflections on abuse, survival, healing, relationships and finding your voice. This initiative supports SUNDÈN's work in empowerment, child protection, gender equality and gender-based violence prevention.
Sharing is voluntary. You choose what and how much to disclose. You do not need to describe traumatic events to participate.
This is confidential storytelling, not fully anonymous storytelling. If you choose to provide identifying details, SUNDÈN may be able to identify you. Those details are not intended for public display. Complete anonymity or absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
Share your story by email
You may prepare a message to info@sundenhouse.com using SHARE YOUR STORY. You decide whether to send it. If no email app opens, use the address directly in your email service.
Email sharing is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Please state whether it is safe for SUNDÈN to contact you and, if so, your approved safe contact method. Do not include unnecessary identifying details in your story. Email providers may process and retain message content and technical metadata; email does not guarantee anonymity or absolute confidentiality.
The separate submission form remains inactive while privacy, security and consent arrangements are reviewed.

- Required confirmation: I am at least 18 years old.
- Required acknowledgement: I have read the privacy risks and safety warning before choosing to submit.
Please do not include names, addresses, schools, workplaces, children's identifying information, other people's private information or details that could compromise anyone's safety in your story. Keep any voluntarily provided contact details separate from the story text.
Your publication choice
When emailing, please state one of these choices. The planned form will also offer them separately, with neither preselected:
- I want SUNDÈN to receive my story privately. Do not publish it.
- I am interested in having a de-identified version of my story considered for publication. SUNDÈN may contact me through my approved safe contact method to discuss separate publication consent.
Neither option permits automatic publication. A separate informed-consent process and privacy review must take place before any story is published. If someone cannot be contacted safely, their story must not be published. A request to discuss publication does not override a “No” answer about safe contact.
STORIES BEHIND THE SILENCE
No stories are displayed yet. This section is reserved for manually approved, carefully de-identified stories with appropriate, separate publication permission.
Approved entries will show a title, category, excerpt and optional pseudonym. Identifying details must be removed or generalised before publication. Real names, email addresses, phone numbers and identifying details about contributors or other people must not appear publicly.
There is no automatic publishing, public commenting, direct messaging or contact between contributors on this page.
How it works
- Choose what to share by email, indicate whether contact is safe and state your publication preference. The separate form is not active.
- Authorised SUNDÈN reviewers assess the original story for safety and privacy. Submission does not guarantee a response or publication.
- Where safe contact is possible and publication is requested, SUNDÈN may discuss a de-identified version and seek separate informed consent. Publication requires manual approval and privacy review.
Privacy arrangements before form launch
Form collection will remain inactive until the form provider, access permissions, storage location, overseas processing, technical logging, retention and deletion arrangements have been reviewed and approved.
The required setup must restrict original stories and identifying details to authorised SUNDÈN administrators. Submissions must not automatically create customer profiles, subscribe contributors to marketing or send identifying information to unnecessary integrations.
A pseudonym does not guarantee anonymity. Hosting, email and form providers may process technical information, including IP addresses, device details or other metadata. Form-provider practices and limits have not yet been verified for an active submission system.
Safety and support
BREAKING THE SILENCE is a SUNDÈN storytelling initiative, not an emergency or crisis service. Submissions are not continuously monitored. Sharing is voluntary, and complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
Please read the SUNDÈN Privacy Policy and Safety & Crisis Support page, including Australian and South African resources. Visitors elsewhere should contact appropriate local emergency or specialist services. Do not wait for a response from SUNDÈN in an emergency.
If someone may monitor your device, messages or accounts, consider using a safer device or trusted service to seek help. Deleting browsing history does not guarantee that evidence of activity is removed.
